Liposuction of the Mons

The mons, or mons pubis, is the official name of the pubic mound – a rounded mass of soft, fatty tissue that sits above the genitalia. It is normally covered in pubic hair which helps to minimize its appearance. However, some people feel that they have excess skin or fat in this area that is causing them to feel self-conscious, both in and out of clothes. A lesser known cosmetic procedure called liposuction of the mons can be used to reduce the size of this intimate body region.

Liposuction of the mons can be carried out under local anesthetic and can be very effective at transforming the pubic area. The process is the same as any other liposuction procedure and uses a cannula to break up and suck out excess fat through several tiny incisions. Some bruising and swelling that sometimes extends right down to the labia or scrotum can be expected and can take around 6 weeks to dissipate.
