Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)

A blepharoplasty is a popular cosmetic surgery procedure that is designed to improve the appearance of hooded or drooping eyelids, or heavy bags under the eyes. It can be carried out using a local anesthetic with sedation, although some patients prefer a general anesthetic so that they are asleep for the duration of the procedure.

In the case of upper eyelids, incisions are made along the natural crease of the eyelid and excess skin, fat and muscle are removed before the incision is closed. Surgery on the lower eyelids involves making an incision just below the lower eyelashes or on the inside of the lower eyelid. Fat and excess skin from underneath the eyes is removed, and the underlying muscles and tendon are reinforced if needed before the incision is closed.

Since it is a surgical procedure, patients can expect some discomfort while they heal and will be given specific instructions for caring for their eyes so that the risk of complications is minimized, and you get the best possible result from your surgery.
