Face rejuvenation

Men are just as likely as women to start noticing the first signs of aging affecting their face. Over the years, the constant exposure of our faces to UV light, pollution and other environmental factors combined with our body naturally producing less and less collagen and elastin to keep our skin healthy and line-free, means that our face is our biggest betrayer of our advancing years. Fortunately, there are now more treatments that can help to reverse the effects of aging than ever before. Many of these are non-surgical and an increasing number of males are taking advantage of these procedures to get back a healthy and youthful appearance. They include:

Chemical peels

Chemical peels work by removing the damaged outer layers of skin so that the younger, rejuvenated layers beneath are revealed. The products used also stimulate collagen production which strengthens the skin and makes it stronger, more elastic, more supple and less prone to lines and wrinkles. Chemical peels can also be tailored to a patient’s individual requirements, such as using specific peels to reducing acne scarring.

Injectables

This is the name given to a broad variety of non-invasive cosmetic treatments that are injected into the face. Most injectables fall into two categories: fillers and Botox. Fillers work by plumping out areas of the face that have lost volume as part of the aging process that can cause the skin to sag and develop lines, wrinkles and folds. Fillers add volume and create definition in the face, causing the patient to look more youthful. Meanwhile, Botox works by paralyzing the muscles of the face that contract when we make expressions. By preventing them from moving, the skin above cannot contract and form lines and wrinkles. All injectables produce temporary yet effective results.
