Liposuction

Liposuction is arguably one of the most popular forms of cosmetic surgery, thanks to its ability to transform virtually any area of the body. If you have a part of your body that has excess stubborn fat that just won’t shift no matter what exercises you do or what diet you follow, you may be suitable for liposuction. However, it is important to note that liposuction is NOT a weight loss treatment and should only be used when a patient is at a healthy, stable weight.

Liposuction works by breaking down the pockets of accumulated fat and removing them from the body via suction. The equipment used to do this is a cannula, to which a small vacuum is attached. Saline solution is first injected into the target area to help break down the fat cells, after which the cannula is inserted at different points and worked back and forth to suction the fat out. Only very small incisions are used to enter the body, meaning that there is no need for a large, open wound. The minimally invasive nature of liposuction means that patients make a faster recovery and have less risk of complications than is the case with an open surgery.

In addition to conventional liposuction surgery, cosmetic surgeons have also developed an innovative new technique that enables male patients to achieve the appearance of tight, chiselled abdominal muscles, usually referred to as a ‘six-pack.’ This technique uses a very precise and accurate suction to remove fat from the abdomen’s superficial and deeper layers to accentuate their natural abdominal lines and give them superior definition.

As with all cosmetic surgeries, patients will first need to attend a consultation before they can be approved for liposuction treatment.
